Greetings,

This particular piece is not associated with Veil Maker strictly speaking, but rather is a product of the Society of snic.  It is the variegated result of a five-day video inquest into the distillate kernel of self-fulfillment. The film is seventeen minutes long in duration and several dog years in digestion. It follows the voluptuous Felicity through a series of encounters which are (since/best) described as inquiries, tribulations, and investigations. Architecture becomes archetype in this character drama and the reins of the wings are drawn taut until they are no longer drawn. The tonal drone further serves to set the sidewalk aright in snician self-discovery.  We have been distributing this masterwork of the human mind exclusively on DVD up to this point. We now present it to you here by the generous provision of the xvid codec, rip and bandwidth courtesy Mr. Philip A. Marshall of Veil Maker infamy.

Well, there's at least 45 downloads so far...  I'm surprised it's doing so well actually.  My traffic is through the roof.  haha

I heard so much about it!

I must see it!

I'll finish this post when it's watched.

AArgh!

I'll have to requisition a copy from Hannes' ugly mug.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'll have to get it from Hannes because it didn't work.

I thought I was just missing a codec. Problem is I don't know where to obtain the codec I'm missing.

I tried windows media player, real player, and even winamp(which I have already gotten many codecs for, hell it plays flash videos).

I fear I may have to resort to quicktime.

none of those players come with xvid built in as far as i know.  you need a codec, one of the megapacks from this site will do it in a pinch in the absence of phil's explicit instruction as to what he used:

VLC has all the codecs you need built in.

I'd recommend Media Player Classic.  To use MPC or windows media player (or winamp), install the defiler codec pack which has all the codecs you'll ever need.  Don't try to install codecs individually (ie, ignore CJ as usual).

I'm editing the first post with more explicit instructions for more explicit viewing.

vlc does not need external codecs.  i also didn't recommend it, as I don't like it.
k-lite = shitty codec pack.

i know that vlc doesnt need codecs.  i use it.
i actually used to use defiler back in the day but i couldn't remember the name since my switch.  but it's not like there's a huge difference to most users between packs, defiler is just a bit more modest.

so there i win. icon_911

but then again, i did say to wait for you to pop by the thread to share your expertise.  so i lose.

the last time i installed k-lite, it didn't have half the stuff i needed.  maybe it's gotten better, but the defiler pack has always had everything i needed.  it was also updated last week, so you know that everything is up to date

Well, I managed to get it working.

Is that a dead duck fetus... marionette?!

The parts where there's flys or the wasp are particularily interesting.

Must try to decipher, must try!

Hey guys (especially CJ):

Can someone provide detailed instructions on how to run this video on a Mac?  I know of someone who wants to watch it, but they can't figure out how to play it on their Mac.  I'm MacTarded, so I need your help.

I contacted the fellow at the Metro, and he said they do screen local films, but only so often. I mailed him a dvd copy of the film before Christmas, but he said all film submissions must be reviewed and if it was chosen, it wouldn't be screened before February. I'll have to follow up, since it IS February.

Why don't you tie a mattress to your back?

Hello Leslie,

Yes, we received the DVD and we've watched it, but we'd rather not
screen it. We considered it for our Prairie Tales tour of Alberta-made
films and videos, but the jury decided not to select it. I'm sorry, but
I don't think the film would hold up well to public scrutiny - if local
critics were given the chance to review lucas a non lucendo, I feel that
they would either dismiss it or crucify it.

Would you like us to send the disc back to you at the return address
listed on 154 Street?

Joel
